Unable to install Intel Widi

Hi,

I used to run Windows 8.1 on my Dell XPS laptop and Intel WiDi 5.1.38.0 used to work fine and I was able to project my laptop's screen on Samsung LED32 HD TV. Few months back I upgraded it to Windows 10 and since then my WiDi had stopped working. I have tried to install latest WiDi tool 6.0.62.0 from the link Download Intel® WiDi/Pro WiDi Software for Windows* but it is not getting installed because of reasons as per the attached image (errormsg.png).

As per the below links, my laptop's processor is supposed to support Intel WiDi, but I am not sure why it is not letting me install the same.

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM

Display Adapters: Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540 M

Widi and Philips TV not working

$

Hi all,

I cant estabilish a Widi connection between my PC and my Philips Android TV (miracast enabled). Here are my specs :

OS: Windows 7 64 bit.

Processor: Intel i3 6100.

GPU: Intel HD graphics 530(driver 20.19.15.4352).

Wifi adapter: Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260(Intel Proset Wireless driver 18.40.0).

Widi software version: 6.0.62.0

TV: Philips 48PFT5500 Android TV.

All the hardware is from what I know compatible with Widi. The TV is Miracast enabled so Widi should work without external adapters.

The problem is this. I connect both PC and TV to the Wifi network. Then my TV is listed as wireless display in the Widi app. I try to connect and after accepting the connection on the TV, the TV shows me a 8 digit PIN which I enter in the Widi app. After that the TV says that the device disconnected and the Widi app that there was a problem in the connection.

As you can see I installed the latest drivers from Intel website and installed them in this order: graphics, Wireless, Widi. I tried also disabling Windows firewall but no luck. I have no antivirus or other firewall installed. I cant figure out what the problem is and that is frustrating. Is there some logfile of the connection where i can retrieve more information about the issue? Otherwise do you think is a good idea to watch with Wireshark the network communication between PC and TV in order to guess what is gong wrong?

Any help is appreciated a lot,

Thank you,

Michele

Widi Issues

I am having problems using widi with a Samsung T.V.

I bought a Toshiba laptop with an i5 processor for our church strictly for use with our Samsung T.V. This laptop connects to the T.V. and works. However, at random times the computer disconnects from the T.V. The T.V. and the laptop are about 10 feet apart. This T.V. also has a Microsoft display adapter connected to it's HDMI (The people who installed the T.V. had no clue what they were doing and told the person in charge of buying the T.V. that he needed it.) which also disconnects from time to time. So I took the laptop home, and connected it to my LG t.v. and it has been sitting here for about 2 hours without disconnecting. We also bought a HP display adapter for the T.V.(This was for its ability to work with older laptops through a wi-fi connection with an older laptop). This worked for a month or two, and then it started disconnecting at random times. So we bought the afore-mentioned laptop. I am now thinking it may be something with the T.V., but I wanted to run it by people with more experience with widi.

My thoughts of what it might be:

- I noticed that the T.V. does not have a surge protector (should be remedied shortly). Could it be an issue with the power (say something coming on dropping the power just enough to mess with the widi receivers, but not turning anything off)?

- If I have the Microsoft wireless display adapter connected, can the fact that the T.V. and the Microsoft display adapter connected to it are both looking for a connection and might be causing interference between one another?

I am really clueless on this one. I would think that it might be that a firmware update for the t.v. might be needed, except that it is doing it to two other devices that are connected through the hdmi inputs.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Netgear ptv3000 and Win7 and WiDi 3.0.13.0 ? Can be done!

Maybe a little old fashion, but some may find it useful.

The short version:

If you have a Netgear Push2TV PTV3000, an older system (laptop, etc) in which the newest version of Intel WiDi that you can install is 3.0.13.0, then, at least in win7, you need PTV3000 firmware version 2.4.3

The longer version:

My system:

Laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad T410 (refurbished, manufactured 2010-11)

WIndows 7 SP1 32bit

processor: Intel Core i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz

graphics: Intel Graphics HD, driver 8.15.10.2993 (download: Download Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, Windows 7*, Windows Vista* (exe) )

wireless adapter: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN, driver 15.3.1.2

Intel® PROSetWireless Driver and Software 15.3.1 (download: Download Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 7*  choose the big file Wireless_15.3.1_s32.exe)

Intel WiDi 3.0.13.0 (download: Download Intel® Wireless Display Software for Windows* ) My sytem does not accept any newer version.

As seen in other posts the install order must be: 1st display driver, 2nd Intel Proset wireless, last Intel Widi.

Note: It may be possible to install newer versions of Intel® PROSetWireless 18.12.1 or 16.11 (or others, the previous I have tried myself. But since my system looks OK now I don't want any risks).

Now about the ptv3000:

I bought it recently from ebay. Upon arrival it had FW v.2.4.26.  Many atempts to connect failed with no message. The adapter and my Intel WiDi were seeing each other, after I have set (in the setting page), the adapter to support older WiDi versions. I 've been able to provide the security code displayed in my TV screen, which then displayed "Connecting to wireless device", my laptop screen was changing resolution and, after a minute the connection dropped. I 've tried various combinations of WiDi (2.2.14, 2.1.42) and Intel® PROSetWireless (the above mentioned)_ nothing!

In the meanwhile my daughter's smartphone Sony Xperia with Android 4.4 (I think) connected to the adapter easily.

Next I decided to try different versions of Firmware. In the Netgear support site there are 13 versions, from 2.1.5 to 2.4.53.(Here: NETGEAR Support | Downloads  You have to type ptv3000).

I started from the latest, 2.4.53, going down each time, five versions in a row. None of them had support for older (2x, 3x) WiDi versions. None of them succeeded, they did not even permit the adapter and WiDi to see each other. The only FW that support them in the settings page, are the previous 2.4.19, 2.4.26, and 2.4.3, the 2nd of them as I explained, simply failed.

When I tried v.2.4.3 at first it failed to connect, in the same way I 've already described.

Then I opened with my browser the settings page (192.168.3.1)

There was only one setting: "Enable support for legacy Intel WiDi", THIS WAS ALREADY CHECKED! BUT I HAD TO CLICK "APPLY" ANYWAY! THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL PART!

After that the adapter rebooted and when I tried to connect with Intel WIDI, it connected just fine. It still does after some days.

I hope some people will find my post helpful. I will be glad to provide more details if someone asks.

Sorry for the long post and thanks for your patience.

***WiDi ISSUES***

My issue is when connected to my Samsung Series 5 TV i can only get 720p at 30hz which is very poor when

watching movies or doing any coding as i am a ComSci Student. The latency is also high there is sometimes

a 2-5 second delay & also my mouse drivers seems to reset when i establish a connection no 2 finger scrolling

or gestures ....strange???

Intel this is not acceptable.

I have read countless forums and discussions but nobody has any solution to any of my issues.

Before i was even able to connect i had to downgrade my graphic driver which was at v20.xx.xx.xxxx something of the sort...

before that it would never connect i updated everything but there was no stable connection. The WiDi connected then it disconnected

immediately (you would hear the hardware connected sound then the hardware discounted sound). The TV would say loading

then show connection has ended.

To my analysis and the analysis of everyone else the Intel drivers are the problem. It seems that the new drivers are not

compatible with most WiDi devices.

How can i...

1- Increase my WiDi screen resolution?

2- Increase the Hz from 30Hz to 60Hz?

3- Decrease the latency to a fraction of a second? (which is possible)

Hi,

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X250, running Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit.

I have an Intel Core i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20 GHz Processor and all the Required Graphics driver updates and Intel ProSet wireless set up as requested, but I still can't run the installation for Intel WiDi.  Every time I get the above message.  This software was not pre installed on the machine, but I have followed all the instructions.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

WiDi technology not fit for purpose.

Hi Intel,

I have bought the machine that is WiDi compatible and TV and expected it to work as every other product that I buy in 21st century. I have only found out that it does not work practically at all. Not funny. The picture lags second or two if lucky enough that it plays and sound happens very sporadically. I have tried changing the frequency channels on the router but I can't find anywhere how to pick the channel which WiDi uses so I could find one that does not interfere with other devices but no luck. I am living in the block of flats and there are many wireless devices around and therefore more detailed setup is required. Anyone could help please?

Best regards,

Adrian

Trying to setup Window 10 Screen Mirroring and can not get WIFI connection for screen mirroring.  Mirroring works on another laptop (Windows 8 with WIDI) but have not gotten my new HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-g141dx  MODEL T8Z19UA to connect.  The intel compatibility tool indicates the  laptop is compatible with WIDI.  I downloaded SP72562 but the install never completes and I get no error msgs. The Control Panel does not show installation of WIDI either.

Checked WIDI installation log which indicate compatibility failure.  I think I have a register problem from the log.

Below is the screen capture of the log and netsh wlan run command, .  Need help understanding the log failure to approach the WIDI installation failure
