Cannot establish connection

Hello,

I'm unable to make a WiDi connection to my TV. I have an ASUS Q500A laptop with Win 8.1 and all updates applied. I use a Neatgear PTV 3000 whose firmware has been updated. When I run the Intel WiDi Update Tool I'm told that no updates are required and I'm ready to connect. My "Push to TV" shows up as a Project Screen option. Before I attempt to connect, my TV says "Ready to connect" with some additional material. When I select the connection "Push to TV", my laptop and TV screen flash black, then say "connecting", then repeat the flash and message, and finally return to the "Ready to connect" screen. I never see a passcode request or any other message I've unplugged and rebooted all devices involved with no change.

I learned how to create a WiDi session log on the Intel site. It's about 1500 lines and I don't know how to read it at all. But some of the error-like messages involved include "LoadVad:CreateFile failed",

"CUIBCServer::Start - CreateFile() failed ",

"RequestBustoLoadVAD - LoadVad:CreateFile failed",

"CDSStreamer::LoadVirtualAudio - Load VAD (2CH) failed (Check if bus driver properly loaded)",

"CWiDiSmartAgent::HandleStartStreaming - get_MACAddr FAILED",

"CDSStreamer::GraphThread - Failed to build the graph",

"CDDEAgent::RecvThread - recv(msg...) failed",

"getInstalledFWVersion - WiDiApp path not found, no FW installed",

"WiDi VAD Render endpoint not found at all", "WiDi VAD Capture endpoint not found at all",

"VAD is not configured correctly, Renderer ok: 0, Capture ok: 0",

"VAD is not configured correctly, notifying app",

"ReportMiracastSessionStatusToOS - Calling OS ReportSessionStatus(handle=000000730F052550, Status=0, Error=0x80000002) [L=5][M=MCUMD][F=igdMCUMD.cpp: 968]".

It then appears to initiate a streaming stop and shutdown process. My log excerpts are incomplete and not necessarily in order. It appears that all occurances of "fail" were associated with VAD (Virtual Audio Driver?), yet the update tool found no driver problems.

Can anyone diagnose my issues from this information or suggest what I try next?

Thanks,

Paul Vodola
