I've got a Asus U56e laptop that I've been using with WiDi to send video to my PVT3000 (on LCD TV) for the past year on Windows 8.1. I've been using the internal Intel wireless chipset, everything worked well enough albeit a little choppy at times. Recently I've updated my home wireless network with the the Asus RT-AC66U to take advantage of the new 802.11ac standard. Taking advantage of wireless ac requires using a usb adapter (edimax ew-7822uac) since the laptop only has wireless-n capability internally.
The connection between the laptop/wireless router is amazing now but WiDi doesn't work anymore. Does disabling the internal wireless (as windows does automatically when inserting the usb adapter) also disable WiDi? Is there anyway to use both the internal wireless WiDi feature alongside the edimax usb adapter so I can still use wireless-ac? I would have though the WiDi connection to pvt300 would be independent of the connection to router, so the usb edimax would handle the connection to the router and WiDi would handle connection to pvt3000, guess not?
