Intel has made the decision to discontinue marketing and development of Intel® WiDi and Intel® Pro WiDi wireless display applications and related receiver certification program effective immediately.

Now that the Miracast standard is natively supported in the Windows 8.1 & 10 operating system for wireless display capabilities with strong user experience, Intel is redirecting its resources and focus to future areas of growth.

Q&A:

Q: I am currently using Intel WiDi – what options do I have for wireless display?

A: Customers using Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 can use the Miracast capability built into the operating system and continue to use the same receivers they are currently using.  Customers using Windows 7 can continue to use an operational WiDi configuration or upgrade to a newer release of Windows.

Q: How long will support for Intel WiDi continue?

A: Key dates for Intel WiDi support:

August 15, 2016 – Intel WiDi software downloads will be removed.

October 15, 2016 – Intel customer support will no longer accept customer contacts for Intel WiDi.  This includes phone, email, web submission, chat, and the WiDi support community.
