WIDI via DLNA using Windows 8.1 (Link and Question)

Hi All,

using a previous WIDI-Driver there seemed a possibility to use WIDI via DLNA. (Please see the link with the according "How-To". Unfortunately, the arcticle is in german, but with tons of screenshots so that one will get the main message. Link: Intel Wireless Display ohne separaten TV-Adapter nutzen – so gehts! | TechHive.de

The article describes the necessary Settings using an older Version of the WIDI Software/Driver. With the newest Version 5.1.29.00 (April 2015) there seems to be no properties of WIDI accessible (as described in the article). Did Intel really reduce the functionality with the newer Software Version? ... do I miss probably something (a hidden button/entry)? ... or does anyone have a Tipp how to get WIDI to work again via DLNA?

What I have tried with Windows 8.1:

- Wireless DLNA playback of Video and Music Files work perfectly on my Samsung TV´s. ("Play-to" works: so the Basic functionality/Connection is given)

- Using in WIDI Software "Connect" calls up the Device / Projector Dialog in Charms. / the Samsung TV is listed but not found in the pop up window.

- Could not find any property Settings for WIDI-Software/Adapter.

What I am trying to do:

- I want to occasionaly connect my Laptop with the TV to work on it or shop PowerPoints - not to watch any Videos. Of course: I could use also a cable, but my Laptop has only Displayport - do not want to go thru the hazzle of buying a silly cable (DP to HDMI). An WIDI Adapter is also not a solution: we have Apple TV, FIre TV, XBox and Chromecast .... to get additional Adapter is no solution: not only would my wife kill me, there is also no HDMI Entry left. So, getting WIDI via DLNA to work, would be perfekt. (And again: it seemed to work according to the articel with Windows 8.1, just the new Intel Software seems to be the Problem.)

Thanks for any Support

Michael
